CONTENTS
2.1 Teaching Methods
History
teachers in Teeratada Phitsanulok School generally they use story telling in
teaching process, because it is the best method for History or Geography
knowledge. First, they will present about the topic that they want to teach. It
is as the first step to introduce the topic to the students. It can be oral
explanation or commonly they use Projector and PowerPoint to make students
understand about the topic easier. Second, they will give some examples story
telling and related it to real live. These activities, are purposed to build
student easy for anderstanding, because History and Geography knowledge not an
easy one to understand,, and student will not borring with this method. So, it
can help students and teachers easier in discussing the topic. After that, they
will give some exercises for the students related the topic. Finally, they will
have a homework based on the topic.

D. OBSERVATION ON TEACHERS
4.1 Planning for teaching
The teachers
in Teeratada Phitsanulok School always create the lesson plan before they start
to teach the students. It is purposed to make them easier when they are
teaching in the class, so that the teaching process can be reached orderly. The
kinds of lesson plan in Teeratada Phitsanulok School same with lesson plan that
I attached above. This lesson plan is almost similar with lesson plan in
Indonesian, but it is simpler one.
4.2 Preparing lessons and materials
Preparing
the class is the first thing that teachers do before they start teaching. In
Teeratada Phitsanulok School, there is Hoikong Activity (it is an activity that
teeratada Phitsanulok School always does in the morning before they start
teaching and learning process). After Hoikong Activity, the teachers always go
to their office first to prepare the class and the materials that they want to
teach. Moreover, they will come to class earlier before all the student entry
the class. The teachers help the students to make a good situation before they
start teaching. For the materials, the teachers always create the materials
based on the lesson plan, or sometimes they create the materials based on the
books that they use. In this case, Geography teachers in Teeratada
Phitsanulok School use History Books in Thai.
4.3 Teaching in class
Teaching activities in the class based on the lesson plan that teacher
made. But sometimes they don’t follow the rules of lesson plan base on the
condition and situation in the class itself.
For the opening activities, the
teachers involve the students to discuss about previous materials especially
that related with the materials that they want to discuss. Commonly the teacher
will ask the students orally about the previous materials. This activity is
aimed to recall students memorization about the materials. So that students
will keep remember and understand the materials.
The main activities, teachers explain
the materials by presenting it on the PowerPoint, Microsoft Words, and videos or
sometimes they only use the whiteboard to introduce the materials, it depends
on how difficult materials that will be learned by students. In the main
activity, the teach
For the closing usually Teacher and
students will conclude about material today and give them exercise: question or
homework
4.4 Measurement and Evaluation
In Basic Education Core Curriculum
2008, learning assessment can be divided into four levels, i.e., classroom
level, educational institution level, educational service area level and
national level, details of which are as follow.
1. Classroom
assessment
Measurement
and evaluation are part of the learning process. Teachers regularly and
continuously measure and evaluate students’ performance in teaching-learning
activities by using diverse assessment techniques, e.g., asking questions,
observing, examining homework, assessing projects, tasks/assignments and
portfolios, and using written tests, etc.
2. School
assessment
This
evaluation is conducted by the educational institution in order to appraise the
learners’ achievements on an annual/semester basis, based on assessment of
reading, analytical thinking and writing, desirable characteristics, and
learner development activities. The aim is also to obtain relevant information
about whether education provided by the educational institution has enabled
learners to reach their goals of learning, and what are the learners’
strengths.
3. Local
assessment
Evaluation
is conducted in order to assess learners’ quality at educational service area
level, based on the learning standards prescribed in the Basic Education Core
Curriculum. It is aimed at obtaining basic information required for developing
quality of education provided by the educational service area as mandated.
4. National test
Evaluation
is conducted in order to assess learners’ quality at national level, based on
the learning standards prescribed in the Basic Education Core Curriculum.
Educational institutions are required to arrange for assessment of all students
in Grades 3, 6, 9 and 12. The evaluation results will provide relevant data for
comparing educational quality at different levels, which will be useful for
planning in order to raise the quality of education provided. The data obtained
will also support decision-making at national policy level.

E. TEACHING PRACTICE
5.1.
Procedures of teaching
When I was
practiced teaching, I had prepared some activities that I want to practice when
I am practicing teaching. Such as :
1. Opening
a. Prepare
the class
b. Greet
and pray
c. Check
the attendance list
d. Discuss
the previous materials
e. Give
the students an overview about the material that will be taught.
2. Main
Activities
a. Review
the students comprehension of American Continent.
b. Explain
the topic (American Continent) that is related with previous studies.

the students to identify the characteristic of each Continent.
e. Ask
the students the differences and the similarities of them.
f. Give
some exercises about American Continent.
g. Ask

3. Closing
a. Summarize
the entire discussion and conclude the main point of the topic.

c. Preview
the next materials.
d. Pray
and close the class.
Those
are the activites that I prepared for tecahing in class Mathayom 3, and those
activities has put into my lesson plan.
5.2.
Time management and organizing
activities
My mentor
teacher Mr. Tanadchai Neamvong always gives me the chance to teach and
always gives me some advices to help me to manage the
class, such as:
-
Prepare the lesson plan: She told me that I have
to make my lesson plan clear, because it will be my guidence to teach the
students
-
Do pre-test and post-test: The pre-test is only
to check the student or the comprehension of the student before we go to
explain the topic.and post-test to re-check the students achievement about the
topic that I have done explain
-
Prepare the supporting materials, such as worksheet,
some videos, and powerpoint presentation
-
Organize the class
-
Manage the time: Teeratada Phitsanulok school is the
school which so discipline, because of that I have to manage my time to follow
the schedule of the school
-
5.3.
Problem-solving
In general, the problem in our first teaching experience is nervous, but
in my case the topic that want to explain to students is the first problem.
Because I never get the topic about American Geography before, but it’s ok for
me, its challange me to learn more about that topic. Teeratada is a great
school with the great students, it doesn’t matter to teach the hard topic
because the students will be easier to answer it. Then, when Dr.
Buncha, and Dr. Bew as Teacher of English
department in Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University and also the teachers from
Teeratada Phitsanulok School come to observe me, I thought that the students in
Mathayom 3 zoom was very helping me to throw away my hesitancy.
5.4.
Classroom management
I have prepared some activites on the
opening of the class that I thought it will manage the class before the
teaching and learning process is held, such as:
a. Prepare
the class
b. Greet and
pray
c. Check the
attendance list
d. Discuss the
previous materials
e. Give the students
an overview about the material that will be taught.
Moreover,
I made a class more enjoy by doing some jokes with them. It help me to interact
with them when I explain the topic.
F. SUMMARY AND SUGGESTIONS
6.1
Purposes of practicum
a. Purposes for
the practicum teacher
In my opinion,
this practicum program help the student teacher to :
1. Get their confident to teach in front of
the real student
2. Prepare themselves to face the real
situation of teaching and learning process
3. Know how the feeling to practice teaching
in overseas
b. Purposes for
the students
Based on lesson plan that I’ve made
the purposes of this practicum are at the end of lesson the students are
expected to be able use English in their real life, and also they understand
about the topic that the teacher explain in front of class, Below are some
indicator that the students have to reach on topic American Continent in class Mathayom
3:
1. Understand
Territorial Boundaries of American Continent.
2. Be able to
explain about American Continent.
3. Identify the
information from American Continent.
6.2
Outcomes of practicum
a. Outcomes for
the student teacher
After the
practicum I thought that:
1. I got
confident to teach in front of the real student
2. I can face
the real situation of teaching and learning process
3. I knew what
the feeling to practice teaching in overseas
b. Outcomes for
the student in class
The outcomes for the students based
on the lesson plan for topic American Continent in class mathayom 3 after
practiced teaching such as :
1. Understand
Territorial Boundaries of American Continent.
2. Be able to
explain about American Continent.
3. Identify the
information from American Continent.
6.3
The challenges of practicum
I got some challenges thing when I
was practiced teaching in Teeratada Phitsanulok School, such as:
1. It was my
first time to go abroad, and Thailand was the first place that I visit
2. It’s hard
for me to adapt with the new culture
3. I can’t speak in Thai, so I can’t understand what the people talked
about, especially when we buy something outside
4. it’s hard
for reaching the mosque because very far from the school
5. It’s hard
for me to adapt with the rules in the school, beacuse the school was very
discipline
6. It’s hard
for me to find halal food
7. Its hard for me to look after my three friends, because I was the only
man among four of us.
6.4
Overall impression
It such a good thing when I realized that I got a chance to go abroad
through this program. I thought that Teeratada Phitsanulok School was a great
private school, because the school can manage the students even there are some
boarding student, they can manage home students and boarding students very
well. Then, I can’t believe that the English ability of the students was very
good started from prathom 1 until mathayom 3, because the students in mathayom
3 must pass the IELTS test if they want to graduate from the school.
Fortunately I met a lot of Thai
people who very kind and love to share the foods, they love to smile to us.
Then, I met a very kind supervisor Dr. Buncha that I call papa, and his wife
Kin I call mama, they made my day in Phitsanulok being so colourful. Even its
hard for me to look after three of my friend while we were in Phitsanulok,
because I was the only men among four of us.
I never expect that I can go abroad
this year, but when I’m home I realized that I’ve ever been in Thailand and
stay there about on emonth to do some positive things and I got a lot of
experiences during this program.
6.5
Suggestions for future improvement
After finished this program, I got some suggestions that I hope can make
this program better in future:
1. Please check the schedule of the
school that we want to practice teaching, if the school is in the test period,
it will make the process of practicum become harder, because the school must be
very busy
2. Please, make sure who will be the
buddies of the student teacher, because if the buddies are the teacher of that
school, I felt not good due to I thought that it will disturb them because they
have a lot of activities that they have to do
G. EXPERIENCE
1. FIRST
WEEK (OBSERVATION)
I arrived in Thailand on Saturday 04 August 2018, when
I arrived at Phitsanulok airport in Thailand, I was welcomed very well and even
welcomed using banners along with teacher adelle and teacher Phet and students
who also welcomed
Picture 1.1 Arrived at thailand
they
were so respectful of the guests who came, I was very flattered by their
friendly attitude, the first day there I was invited to an assembly hall in the
morning they held hokung (gathered in the assembly).
Picture
1.2 assambly hall
then continued observation of classes in school is very fun because all the teachers and students can speak English on average, so communication to them is not difficult even though there are some who cannot but they can understand what we say, and they are all very friendly and friendly , students at Teeratada School respect the teacher so much that the class becomes orderly and not so grabbing. Even the teacher's atmosphere in the classroom can be conditioned easily, even though there are some students who like to make noise but that doesn't matter to Teacher Hom (my tutor's teacher) even I don't just class observation, but I also make observations outside the classroom and how I was surprised that the student outside of playing or joking with his friends but they held their books and read the book, I was very impressed with the students at Teeratada School, I thought why could they do that because of the discipline applied by the principal which requires them to bring books and that has become their habit. They routinely carry out ceremonies every day and every morning they have to memorize sentences in both English and Chinese. Because here English is very important.
Picture 1.3 observation in class
They have a schedule of meals 3 times a
day for this schedule for students who stay while students who live in their
own homes only take a lunch schedule. Schedule for students staying overnight,
namely: morning 06.30-07.00, noon 12.00-01.00, afternoon 04.30-05.00. and also
in my first week there exactly on Friday they celebrated ASEAN DAY by creating
booths of each ASEAN country and inside the booth there were characteristics of
each country, such as: typical clothing typical of the booth was designed according
to the chosen country I happened to be in my own country stand, Indonesia, and
I also helped them to design the Indonesian booth. Then on the weekend of our
first week, then Dr. Buncha (SEAMEO coordinator) came to pick us up to stay at
his house during the weekend and there we were treated like a child again, and
invited to tourist attractions both culinary and Thai specialties.
Picture 1.4 Asean Day and holiday in the weekend
2. SECOND
WEEK (ASSISTANT TEACHER)
Picture 2.1 teaching assistant in the class
3. THIRD
WEEK (TECHING PRACTICE)
Being a teacher in this third week I had the opportunity to teach in Mathayom 3 jet and zoom in that one week I taught three times in class when I was full teaching 2 hours of lessons I felt how a teacher should be able to condition the class must have more insight because if the teacher only refers to what material he reads today then he is not enough to be said as a teacher, because the teacher must be able to tell about the situation outside there the teacher must have more insight than his students and also be a supervisor of student night learning at night from hours 19.00-21.00, it's only for students who stay.
Picture 3.1 teaching in the class
4. FOURTH
WEEK (EVALUATION)
The last week is the most exciting week for me because
I have to teach in class with 2 Dr. from Tibolsongkram University Rajhabat and
the two best teachers at the Phitsanulok Teeratada School in Thailand and they
are not just present but they also assess the way I teach, how I condition
classes, and especially communication when teaching because there I teach
Geography using English. And thank God, I got a pretty satisfying score.
Picture
4.1 teaching evaluation
and after that we were invited to join the English language class at the University of Phibulsongram Rajhabat, there I got a lot of teaching methods that I had never seen in Indonesia, then 2 days before going home we met with the president of the PSRU and it was a honor to meet and eat with him.
Picture 4.2 join in the english class and met with president PSRU
Then before returning to Indonesia we presented a distinctive Indonesian appearance and I had the opportunity to sing a typical regional song of Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan.
